Product Specification
A Rebar Coupler is a high-strength mechanical connector used to join two reinforcement (TMT) bars without
overlapping them. Also known as a Rebar Connector, Steel Bar Coupler, Reinforcing Bar Coupler, or Mechanical
Rebar Coupler, it creates a secure and reliable connection that efficiently transfers tensile and compressive
loads from one reinforcement bar to another.
Compared to conventional lap splicing, a Rebar Coupler offers superior structural performance, reduces steel
consumption, minimizes reinforcement congestion, and improves construction speed. These couplers are widely used
in residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects including bridges, highways, metro rail,
dams, tunnels, power plants, and high-rise buildings.

Parallel Thread Coupler
A Parallel Thread Coupler is one of the most widely used mechanical
splicing systems for reinforcement bars. In this system, both ends of the TMT bars are processed using a Roll
Thread Machine, which forms accurate parallel threads on the bar ends. The threaded bars are then connected
using a precision-engineered steel coupler, providing a strong and continuous reinforcement connection.
The threaded joint works like a nut-and-bolt mechanism, ensuring
maximum load transfer without weakening the reinforcement. Parallel Thread Couplers eliminate the need for long
lap lengths, making them an ideal solution for heavily reinforced concrete structures.
Roll Thread Coupler
A Roll Thread Coupler is specifically designed for reinforcement
bars whose ends are threaded using a Rolling Thread Machine. The bar ends are first prepared through the rib
peeling and rolling process to produce precise parallel threads. The coupler is then screwed onto both threaded
bar ends, creating a permanent and high-strength mechanical splice.
Roll Thread Couplers are widely used because they provide
• Full load transfer
• Excellent tensile strength
• Faster installation
• Reduced reinforcement congestion
• Better quality control
• Longer service life
These couplers are suitable for TMT bars ranging from 12 mm to 40
mm diameter.
How Roll Thread Rebar Couplers Work
The installation process is simple and reliable
1. Cut the reinforcement bar to the required length.
2. Prepare the bar end using a Roll Thread Machine.
3. Form accurate parallel threads on the TMT bar.
4. Screw the Roll Thread Coupler onto one threaded bar end.
5. Align the second threaded reinforcement bar.
6. Tighten the coupler until both bars are securely connected.
7. Inspect the joint for proper engagement before concreting.
The result is a high-strength mechanical connection capable of
transferring the full design load between reinforcement bars.
Types of Parallel Thread Rebar Couplers
Standard Rebar Coupler
The standard coupler contains right-hand threads on both sides and
is used where both reinforcement bars can be rotated during installation.
Features
• Standard right-hand thread
• Easy installation
• Suitable for most reinforcement applications
• Cost-effective mechanical splice
Positional Rebar Coupler
A positional coupler has one side with left-hand threads and the
other side with right-hand threads. It is used where neither reinforcement bar can be rotated.
Features
• Left-hand and right-hand internal threads
• Ideal for fixed reinforcement
• Suitable for beam-column joints
• Fast installation in congested reinforcement
Reducer Rebar Coupler
Reducer couplers are used for connecting reinforcement bars of
different diameters.
Features
• Different internal thread diameters
• Smooth load transfer
• Used for bar size transitions
• High structural reliability
Product Features
• Manufactured from premium EN8D steel
• High tensile mechanical splice
• Precision parallel threads
• Excellent dimensional accuracy
• Corrosion-resistant finish
• Suitable for 12 mm to 40 mm reinforcement bars
• No welding required
• No lapping required

Advantages of Rebar Couplers
Using a Parallel Thread Coupler provides several advantages
over traditional lap splicing.
Stronger Structural Performance
Mechanical couplers ensure direct load transfer from one
reinforcement bar to another, improving structural
integrity.
Reduces Steel Consumption
Since lap lengths are eliminated, steel wastage is
significantly reduced.
Faster Construction
Installation is quick and simple, reducing project
completion time.
Better Quality Control
Every mechanical connection can be visually inspected
before concreting.
Less Reinforcement Congestion
Couplers minimize overlapping reinforcement, making
concrete placement easier.
Economical Solution
Reduced steel consumption and faster installation lower
overall construction costs.
Improved Load Transfer
The threaded connection provides continuous reinforcement
capable of carrying high tensile and compressive forces.
No Welding Required
Installation requires only threaded bar ends, improving
site safety and reducing labor costs.
Applications of Roll Thread Couplers
Parallel Thread Couplers are widely used in
• High-rise Buildings
• Residential Projects
• Commercial Buildings
• Industrial Structures
• Bridges
• Flyovers
• Metro Rail Projects
• Highways
• Railway Infrastructure
• Dams
• Tunnels

Compliance with International Standards
Our Rebar Couplers comply with major national and international standards for mechanical reinforcement splicing.
ACI 318
Type 1
The mechanical splice must achieve at least 1.25 Fy.
Example
For Fe500 reinforcement, the minimum tensile strength should be 625 N/mm².
Type 2
The splice must satisfy 1.25 Fy and also achieve the ultimate tensile strength of the reinforcing bar.
Example
For Fe500 reinforcement, the expected tensile strength is 700 N/mm² or higher.
BS 8110 Part 1
According to BS 8110, permanent elongation after loading to 0.6 Fy should not exceed 0.1 mm.
For Grade 460 reinforcement, tensile strength should exceed 497 N/mm².
IS 1786
For Fe500 reinforcement, the specified minimum ultimate tensile strength is 545 N/mm².
Mechanical couplers designed for higher performance generally satisfy the 625 N/mm² requirement.
IS 16172
IS 16172 specifies mechanical couplers designed for Fe550 reinforcement and recommends static tensile testing for
acceptance.
